Methods:Fourty-threecasesofchildhoodBLwereretrospectivelyinvestigatedinmorphology,immunophenotype, genotype,treatmentsandsurvivalanalysis. Results:Clinically,therewasamarkedmalepredominanceinsexdistribution(M:F=9.75:1);abdomenwasthe mostfrequentextranodalsitesofinvolvement(46.5%),followedbyjawsandfacialbones(16.3%).Twothirdofthe patientswereinstageI~II.Morphologically,69.76%ofthecasesshowedclassicalhistologicfeatures,while30.24% ofthemshowedgreaternuclearpleomorphisminsizeandshape.Fivecases(11.6%)werepositiveforEBER1/2. Thirty-oneofthe40cases(77.5%)hadtheaberrationofIGH/MYCtranslocationwhile7(17.5%)hadnon-IGH/MYC translocation.Thirtypatients(69.7%)receivedoperationand/orchemotherapywhile13patients(30.3%)received notreatment.Twenty-sevenpatients(62.8%)diedofthetumor,16alive,withtheaveragesurvivaltime4.9and 48.7monthsrespectively.HighIPI,advancedclinicalstage,increasedserumlevelofLDHandnochemotherapy receivedaswellastumorsize≥10cmwererelatedtothelowersurvivalratesofthetumor. Conclusions:SeveraldifferenceswereshowedinthisgroupofBL,includingamuchhigherratioofmalepatients, morecasesinstageII,clinicallyinconsistenttreatmentandaverypooroutcome.
