Methods:615RApatientsfromtheLeidenEarlyArthritisClinic(EAC)(meanfollow-up7.6years)weregenotyped forrInaddition5634personsenrolledinthePROspectiveStudyofPravastatinintheElderlyatRisk (meanfollow-up3.2years)weregenotypedforrs2416808(R20.99withr.Thelife/deathstatuswas determinedandforthedeceasedpersonsthecauseofdeathwasascertained.Coxproportionalhazardsand regressionmodelswereusedtoassesshazardratios(HR)and95%confidenceintervals(CI). Results:Seventy-sevenRApatientsdied.ThemaindeathcausesinRApatientswerecardiovasculardiseases (37.7%),cancer(28.6%)anddeathduetoinfections(9.1%).NoassociationwasobservedbetweenthersusceptiblegenotypeAAandcardiovascularmortality(HR1.0895%CI0.54to2.15)andall-causemortality(HR0.81 95%CI0.27to2.43).Similarfindingswereobservedforrs2416808susceptiblegenotypeGGinthenon-RAcohort (HR0.99;95%CI0.79to1.25andHR0.89;95%CI0.64to1.25,respectively).
