Methods/Design:TheCBTprogramwillbetestedwithaRCTwith120clinicallyanxiouschildren(8-12yearsold) referredtooneofthreementalhealthcareagencies.Childrenwillberandomlyassignedtotheexperimental(N= 60,TDD)ortothecontrolcondition(N=60,treatmentasusual).Theprimaryoutcomemeasurewillbethechild’s anxietysymptomslevel.Secondaryoutcomemeasureswillbeexternalizing(e.g.aggression)andinternalizing problems(e.g.depression).Twopotentialmediatorsofchangewillbeexaminedinthecurrentstudy:therapeutic allianceandparenting.Motherandchildinboththeexperimentalandcontrolconditionwillbesurveyedat baseline,posttreatmentandafter6and12months(follow-up).Itishypothesizedthatchildrenintheexperimental conditionwillshowastrongerdecreaseinanxietysymptomscomparedtochildrenthatreceivetreatmentas usual.Moreover,weexpectthatastrongtherapeuticallianceanddecreasesinparentalcontrolandrejectionwill contributetotreatmentsuccess. Discussion:Earlytreatmentforanxietyproblemshasthepotentialtonotonlyresultinanxietyreductions,butalso topreventfutureproblemssuchassubstanceabuseandpsychopathologythroughoutadulthood.Ourresultswill beimmediatelyrelevanttopractice,sincewearepartneringwith‘realworld’communityagencies.IftheCBT progra
