吴雪娇论文 A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement for the Degree of B.A A Seeming Analysis on the Heroine of Jane Eyre Candidate: Wu xuejiao Major: literature Abstract Jane Eyre, written by Charlotte Bronte who was the outstanding realist of English literature in the first half of the ninth century, successfully describes the heroine Jane Eyre’s tortuous experience of her life. Jane Eyre from humble origin fights against the capitalist society audaciously, stands up for personality and dignity, and pursues independence and equality continually, so as to change her fate. After having been treated unsympathetically at Gatehead Hall and Lowood School, Jane Eyre serves as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where the upper-class noble Mr. Rochester is tremendously fascinated by Jane Eyre’ merits and falls in love with her. Based on the clue which is the heroine’ complicated grown-up experience, the paper elaborates respectively Jane Eyre’ miserable encounters in her childhood, the bumpy love story in her adulthood and Jane Eyre’s image. Through the analysis of Jane Eyre’s independently principal value and her dual disposition, the author not only extols the heroine’ high spirit of resistant will, awareness of equality and independent personality, but also reveals the heroine is unconsciously obedient to the traditional conception. Focusing on Jane Eyre’s spiritual merits, the author aims to reflect that Jane Eyre endeavors to seek a shining path without discrimination and non-equality. In order to demonstrate the heroine’s characteristic, the paper analyses the fact that the heroine Jane Eyre keeps on struggling in spite of all difficulties and setbacks.
