The rule was “No smoking in public”, the way I see it, which was definitely correct. I remember that the first time I was told that rule when I was a freshman in my university.From my tutor, I learned that it was the newly issued rule of our university at the time.As for why the rule is needed, here I would like to give some explanation. First of all, it is widely accepted that smoking is harmful to our health which could cause lung cancer and other sicknesses of respiratory system. Apart from this, smoking can cause air pollution by releasing noxious gas, so it is not environmental-friendly. Plus, smoking tends to result in fire disaster, thus is a potential threaten to our life and property. Based on the consideration above, our university brought out this needed rule.In terms of how the rule is enforced,let me tell you more details.Firstly, all the campus stores were banned from selling cigarettes. Then, once a student was caught when smoking, he would be punished. A typical example I can show you is that one of my unfortunate roommate named Liyang was forced to clean washroom after be caught smoking there.“No smoking” rule is beneficial to both individuals and our society, so Itotally agree with it.
