School of Environ mental Science Engineering , Shandong University , Jinan 250100 , China) Abstract :The degradation of xylene (p 、m 、oxylene) by ultraviolet light and ozone was investigated in diffe rent conditions. The degradation reactions of xylene in air and nitrogen were compared . The intermediate pro ducts of xylene in the photodegradation reaction in air and the mechanism were discussed . The experiment re sults indicated that the photodegradation rate of pxylene was more than the others , and the intermediate prod ucts were detected by direct GCFID analysis under the same conditions.
