By collecting information using vehicles, we can do many things. For example, we can use it for navigation safety or traffic control Also by taking pictures from streets we can use it for accident site investigation In VSN, we’re using DSRC for communication which is dedicated short range communication technology. Car has on board-sensor box, and they can talk to each other using multi-hop comm. And also they can communicate with Infostations. Fixed Infostation that has processing and storage capabilities. They can be used to collect information from cars. * First part of this talk is about Vehicular Sensor Network. Instead of going over all possible scenarios, in this talk, we focus on Infrastrureless VSN for the police. Each car is collecting images using the camera attached on the rooftop and stored locally. Each car can process images and can detect an event such as a crash. To provide access to the distributed storage, vehicles advertise meta-data of the data 4. The challenge here is that “How the police can access such distributed storage?” * The intuitive idea of mobility-assist data harvesting protocol is as follows: Mobile sensors keep relaying meta-data of event to their neighbors, thus diffusing events using mobility.
