The transport of sugars across the plasma membrane from apoplastic space into cells is mediated by sugar trans- porters. The metabolism pathways of sugar involve sorbitol metabolism, sucrose metabolism and hexose me- tabolism. In this article, we summarize the research progress of sugar kinds and accumulation type of sugar in developing fruits of pear, transport form of photosynthetic products, sugar transport protein, and the relation- ship of some related enzyme’s activity with sugar accumulation, the role of sugar transport protein, and the reg- ulation of sugar metabolism in fruits.
