AbstractBy integrating and comparison of the experiment dada collected during 1987 to 1995
on Lean River, the pollution and ecological risk for heavy metals in sediments ere assessed.
The results sho ed that the sediments of Lean River ere heavily polluted due to discharge
from Dexing copper mine and mines along theJishui River T here ere high contents of copper.
in sediment in the upstream ( A04_ A06) due to the pollution from Dexing copper mine and
high concentrations of zinc, copper and lead in sediments at site A07, and rather high concentra-
tions of copper and zinc in the do nstream after site A( 07) due to the pollution from the up-
stream and Jishui River T he correlation coefficients bet een Cu against S Fe or hydroxides. ,
ere very significant.T he analysis of partial correlation coefficients indicated that S as a main
receptor for Cu in sediments. The correlation coefficients of Pb-Mn(r = 0.9422) , Pb-Fe( r =
0. 7271) - ( = 0. 8081) .
and Zn Mn r as also very significant We concluded that the heavy metals
in sediments possess potential
