Vocabulary is one of the three major elements of language (pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar). It is the basic material of language and plays an important role in language learning. As Wilkins, a British linguist, said in Linguistics and language teaching, we cant accept grammar as more important than words.. The truth is, without grammar, almost nothing can be conveyed. But without words, nothing can be conveyed. Thus, without vocabulary, there can be no communication in any form.
