Abstract Low - carbon technology is the core of development of low - carbon economy. Developed countries have been developed the technology development road map according to their own national characteristics and superiority technology. China is researching the low carbon technologies and choice the suitable national technology route as the worlds largest emitter of CO2. Study on selection of low - carbon technology in Hubei Province is not only important to Chinas CO2 emissions but also to the sustainable development on economic in Hubei Province and the ―Two - type society‖ construction of Wuhan City Circle. This study shows that improved energy efficiency, increased development of renewable energy, widespread introduction of carbon capture and storage, continued fuel switching especially as nuclear is the trend of global low - carbon technology development. Some countries respectively made different low carbon development road map. Chinas key technology areas in Low carbon technology innovation including energy supply, transport and energy saving, building energy efficiency and industrial energy saving. Clean and efficient use of coal, grid - connected and efficient use technology of renewable energy power system security and stability, development and application of existing low - carbon technologies, advanced technologies such as CCS, a new generation of biofuels, pure electric vehicles research and development – oriented. At the same time in different process of low carbon technology development face different levels of technology, cost and other barriers. This study concluded that low - carbon technology development in Hubei Province has a good natural cond
