Beijing is blessed with numerous tourist destinations of tremendous historical importance. These include the Great Wall, a famous line of defense; the Forbidden City, an enormous palace compound; the Temple of Heaven, a fascinating site of imperial worship; the Summer Palace, a wonderful imperial garden etc. Secondly, standing side by side with those fabulous symbols of the imperial past are artistic modern buildings such as the Olympic Village, the Water Cube and Bird Nest Stadium, as well as the characteristic Siheyuans and Hutongs ,the windows to Beijing’s old ways of life. Last but not least, as the essence and miniature of Chinese culture, Beijing Opera incorporates the advantages of local opera and folk melody, prevailing in every corner of China. With its exposure to the Western world, many foreigners begin to fall in love with it and also have the opportunity to feast their eyes on the other forms of arts. Since Beijing is both historic and dynamic, my foreign friend can taste the historic flavor as well as enjoy the modern arts.
