A b str a c t S everal decades after th e C u lture R evolution, the w orld of painting in C h ina keep s search ing for the sp irit of hum an beings, th is is a process step by step . A t first, the C h inese artists tried to find th e an sw ers from C h inese tradition , after years, they turned into the w est S ituational R ealism continues th is process. T he Situational R ealism starts from th e end of 1980 s, thrives from 1990s till n ow , it m ix es the ach ievem ents no m atter they are m odern or ancient, from its ow n country or abroad. A fter long tim e choosing and practical survey, th e S ituational R ealism form s its ow n expression strategies. P eop le u sed to exp lain the State R ealism in three w ays :first is perceptual reading, second is to exp lain it in socio log ical w ays as part of art ph enom enon in 1990s. T he form er is in effective ;th e latter is far from specific text. T he third w ay is to analyze the structure and appreciating m echan ism of the art text in iconology angle, search the original m ean ing of the w orks. A lthou gh sub stantial, relevant theory stud ies are insu fficient. T h is article tries to com b ine three w ays to fill th e b lank of study. B y activating the experience of life and appreciating the art w ork s, I try to solv e the m ain prob lem : the w ay that the S ituational R ealism discovers the sp irit of hum an beings, w hat does it get and th e aesthetic characteristics it reflects.
