We will look at the basics of the mortgage market to understand how it affected the financial markets. Some Terminology Mortgage – to pledge property as security for a loan Collateral – the property that is pledged Liquidity – ease of conversion of an asset into cash Security – A certificate (paper or electronic) that gives certain rights to the lender.
