Abstract
In this paper, we give the definition and some characterizations of n-
costar modules, and prove that n-cotilting modules are precisely n-costar
modules n-copresenting all the projectives. Moreover, suppose R is a ring
extension of A, we give some conditions under which an n-costar module
A U extends to an n-costar module, or an n-cotilting module RHomA (R, U ).
When R is a split extension of A by Q, we obtain that RHomA (R, U ) is
a 1-cotilting module (respectively, a 1-costar module) if and only if A U is
a 1-cotilting module (respectively, a 1-costar module) and A U cogenerates
both AHomA (Q, U ) and A Q (respectively, A U cogenerates AHomA (Q, U )).
