Learn English through Movies Cool 007 Gadgets ★★★★ THE newest James Bond movie, Casino Royale (《皇家赌场》) is going to be in Chinas theatres at the end of this month. You might be counting down the days. One of the favourite things about Bond films are the cool high-tech gadgets (装置) he uses. Those cars, watches and weapons have kept him alive and kicking throughout his 42-year career. So, check out this list of the top five 007 gadgets of all time. 1. The Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger (1964) (《金手指》) This car is full of gadgets. It remains the model for all the Bond movie cars that came later. It had bullet-proof glass, revolving (可旋转的) license plates and machine guns. The most surprising part was its ejector (弹出) seat, a great way to get rid of an unwanted passenger from the car roof. 2. The Jet Pack in Thunderball (1965) (《霹雳弹》) With two fuel tanks strapped to his back, Bond used the jetpack (喷气机包) to escape after he had killed a bad guy. ?The jet pack was easy to fold up and small enough to fit in the trunk(后备箱) of his car. 3. The Lotus Esprit in The Spy Who Loved Me(1977) (《海底城》) This super-cool 70s car not only drove Bond on land but under the sea as well. The Lotus Esprit could change into a submarine (潜水艇). It had wheels that could turn into fins (船翼). It also had a periscope (潜望镜) coming out of the roof. 4. The Omega Watch in GoldenEye (1995) (《黄金眼》) This watch had a laser (激光) that cut through metal. It could also detonate (引爆) bombs from a distance. In GoldenEye, Bond and the girl were locked in a room on a train which was about to explode. He used the watch to cut a hole in the floor, and the two escaped. 5. The Ericsson Cellphone in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) (《明日帝国》) You think your cellphone can do more than just make calls? This Ericsson phone acted as a gun and a fingerprint reader. There was even a screwdriver (螺丝刀) hidden under the antenna (天线) . But the coolest part of the phone was that it allowed Bond to control his BMW car while lying down safely
