The primary reasons include improper utilization of herbicides, along with incorrect operation of substandard spray machinery. Thus, better pesticide management needs to be implemented with greater emphasis placed on evaluation of herbicide crop safety . Registration should be cancelled on long-residual herbicides for which replacements are available, and use restrictions implemented for long-residual herbicides with no suitable substitutes.
