Abstract The YuanHe period was the second peak of the poetry in the Tang Dynasty, the big change period in the history of poetry. During that time, there were lots of famous poets and various genres. Many poets appeared, such as Han Yu 、Liu Zongyuan, Bai Juyi, Liu Yuxi and so on. The poetry genre of Han Meng and the poetry gener of Yan Bai were quite popular at that perid. But relative to the other poets in the YuanHe period, the study about the poetry of Liu Zongyuan is weak, and many researchers focused on his landscape poetry rather than studying his poety on the whole. This paper will elaborate following matters to understand his poetry entirely: the Liu Zongyuans life, his poetry creation, the writing psychology of his SaoYuan poetry and the performance. In order to highlight the characters of Liu Zongyuans poetry, it will compare the Liu changqings poetry and the Liu Zongyuans poetry. At last, on the basis of above, this paper will evaluate the status of Liu Zongyuans poetry pertinently. Introduction: It illustrates generally the basic situation of the study of Liu Zongyuans poetry, sort out the present research situation and the relevant materials. Part Ⅰ: It briefly describes the life experience of Liu Zongyuan, mainly highlight the significant events that influence the mind of Liu Zongyuan. In order to understand the emotional changes in Liu Zongyuans life, this part also divides his poetry into many stages which has different emotions. Part Ⅱ: This chapter which is the main part of this paper analysis the feature of “SaoYuan”in Liu Zongyuans poetry deeply.
