Methods 80 cases of patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma admitted and treated in our hospital from January 2014 to March 2015 were conveniently selected and divided into two groups according to different operation methods， both groups adopted the thyroid cancer radical surgery， the control group adopted the traditional thyroid cancer resection operation， while the observation group adopted the modified Miccoli operation， and the curative effect and safety were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time， bleeding amount， cut length， drainage amount， length of stay and incidence rate of postoperative complications in the observation group were obviously lower than those in the control group， which were respectively （50.6±11.3）min， （13.6±8.3）mL， （2.2±0.4）cm， （23.4±7.2）mL， （2.6±1.2）d and 2.5% in eth observation group， and there was no recurrence， metastasis or death， and the differences in the average number of lymphadenectomy in the central region and lateral cervical region between the observation group and the control group had no statistical significance，（4.5， 8.4 vs 4.2， 7.6），（P0.05）.
