Abstract The research focuses on the coal encountered in the process of environmental pollution and transportation problems of coal losses,which existent in the coal industry. Researching prepared a chemical dust suppressants, to solve environmental pollution problems and the loss of coal issues.In the process of the experiment, I chose to starch, sodium silicate, with glycerol as the main raw materials. Through orthogonal test find the better formula and the preparation conditions: the quantity of starch formulation is 5g/100mlH O; adding sodium volume 9g/100mlH O; glycerol 2 2 addition is 1.5g/100mlH O. Preparation conditions are: the speed at 3000r/min, the 2 constant stirring 30-40 minutes. Based on the best formula of dust suppressants, I had measured the function of the dust suppressants which mainly including viscosity, surface tension, anti-evaporation rate, absorption rate, water retention, anti-rain performance, wind resistance and strength.The results of measurement show that the viscosity of the dust suppressants is 0.007Pa • s; surface tension is 47.3mN / m; in the high temperature of 40 ℃ still had good resistance to evaporation; dust suppressants natural curing, the moisture absorption rate to 7.83% and moisture content was 21.5%, indicating that the process of using dust suppressants has good moisture absorption and water retention, which can achieve better dust effects; the dust suppressants intensit
