Abstract Employee engagement is an important management topic academically and practically. The concept, antecedents
and consequences of employee engagement are revealed and a basic theory model is constructed based on the relevant research
result in the past. The concept is revealed according to three aspects: engagement, employee engagement, and differentiations
from other relevant constructs. The antecedents are revealed according to two aspects: job demands-resources model and fi t
theory. The consequences are revealed according to two aspects: positive and negative result of employee engagement. At the
same time, some personality to some extent moderates the relationship between the antecedents and employee engagement,
and the relationship between employee engagement and the consequences.
