Simple posterior debridement, bone grafting and internal fi xation for Brucellar spondylitis in lumbar vertebrae

Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical effi cacy of simple posterior debridement, bone grafting and
internal fi xation for Brucellar spondylitis in the lumbar vertebrae. Methods Clinical data of 27 cases ( 21 males and
6 females ) of Brucellar spondylitis in the lumbar vertebrae ( treated with simple posterior debridement, bone grafting
and internal fi xation from January 2012 to Auguest 2014 ) were analyzed retrospectively. The mean age was 55 years
( range: 24 - 77 years ). The mean course was 9 months ( range: 3 - 18 months ). Visual analog scale ( VAS ), Japanese
Orthopaedic Associations ( JOA ), X-ray and MRI before and after the surgery were reviewed and compared to
