;Biography of Charles Lamb;Tales from Shakespeare莎士比亚故事集(1807) which he wrote in collaboration with his sister and The Adventures Of Ulysses尤利西斯冒险故事集(1808) were valuable retellings of classic works for children. Lamb‘s critical comments in Specimens of English Dramatic poets who lived about the time of Shakespeare莎士比亚同时代英国戏剧诗人之范作(1808) are among the classics of English criticism. Lamb worked for the East India Company in London for 33 years but managed to contribute articles to several journals and newspapers.;Mary Lamb; Charles Lamb, by?Francis Stephen Cary?(died 1880), given to the National Portrait Gallery, London in 1895. ;
He died on 27 December 1834 just a few months after Coleridge(柯勒律治). He was 59.;Major Literary Works;The Style Of Lamb’s Essay:;His style is not so much an imitation as a reflection of the older writers; for in spirit he made himself their contemporary. A confirmed habit of studying them in preference to modern literature had made something of their style natural to him; and long experience had rendered it not only easy and familiar but habitual.
