These sorts of heroes tend not to embody typical heroic traits and attitudes but actually subvert them. Why does the Byronic hero become popular? Byronic heroes tend to be vulnerable, imperfect heroes so that readers and viewers, can more easily identify with than traditional heroes who might seem unrealistic and dull. Thank you George Gordon Byron(1788-1824) Life and Works Lord George Gordon Byron was as famous in his lifetime for his personality cult as for his poetry. He created the concept of the “Byronic hero”. Byron’s influence on European poetry, music, novel, opera, and painting has been immense. He was the most renowned English-language poet of his day. Family Background Byron was born of noble blood both on the paternal and maternal lines. Byron’s father was a captain nicknamed “Mad Jack”, who had squandered away the money of Byron’s mother and then deserted her, finally died deep in debt when Byron was a child. Byron’s mother was a Scottish noblewoman, Catherine Gordon, a descendant of the King of Scotland. Byrons father Byrons mother Early Life Lord Byron was born on 22 January 1788 in London.
