Case 4 One export company received a L/C from foreign importer. The exporter delivered the goods on board the ship according to the terms of L/C. the exporter suddenly was informed before sending the shipping documents to the local bank for negotiation of payment that the applicant of L/C had been bankrupt, thus the opening bank would not take the responsibility to make the payment. What should the exporter do under this circumstance? Case 5 One Chinese company made a quotation to a Japanese importer for selling chestnut roasted with sugar under D/P at sight. The Japanese sent a mail and said it would be accepted if the Chinese exporter would accept D/P after 90 days and through the appointed bank by him to get the payment. Please analyze that why did the Japanese importer make such requirement? Whether should the Chinese exporter accept this counter offer for payment? why? Case 6 One Chinese exporter got an irrevocable L/C from abroad which would be informed and confirmed by a foreign bank in China. The Chinese exporter then made the shipment on board the ship and sent the shipping documents to the bank for negotiation pf payment. Suddenly the Chinese exporter was informed that the opening bank was bankrupt and the negotiation bank had no responsibility to negotiate for the payment, while D/P would be accepted if the Chinese exporter agreed.
