Existing bitmaps can t support gueries based on the guantum of keywords and inverted fiIes need a Iarge amount of storage space.A compression method and a storage structure for a kind of index named freguency vectors are presented in this paper. TheoreticaI anaIysis gives a upper bound of compression ratio.Ouery processing method based on the compressed index is aIso discussed.ExperimentaI resuIts indicate that this compressed index can guarantee to obtain compIete guery resuIts and high efficiency.
