Abstract: Aluminum foam sandw ich( AFS) panels w ere successfully prepared by the pow der-filled
tube rolling process w e de eloped w ith the commercial AlSi12 alloy, M g and T iH2 pow der used as
raw materials, and the precursors prepared by such a process w ere systematically compared w ith
that by the composite rolling process in macro-morphology , interfacial bonding and foam structure
ia a scanner w ith a resolution 300 dpi, SEM and micro-hardometer. T he results showed that the
aluminum foam panels prepared in this way can pre ented them from crack propagation effecti ely
and keep their complete shape w ith uniform compactness, thus pro iding the effecti e bonding
between panels and core material. In the finished aluminum foam sandw ich panels the foaming
structures are complete and uniformly distributed.
