Behavior Based Safety teaches leaders, observers and the team in general to know what safe looks like and to understand that anything else is a potential injury. Observers are trained to recognize these behaviors and provide immediate feedback as well as enter their findings in a database. The data is collected and used to define areas of improvement before incidents occur. BBS encourages individuals to look for safe and unsafe behaviors and note them so change can occur. This process is not intended to be punitive, but instead its designed to help us build a culture of accountability to ourselves and one another.
