Unit5 Cooling System Service Procedures 5.1 Cooling System Operation 5.2 Toyota Corolla Repair Manual 5.1 Cooling System Operation The cooling system controls temperature through heat transfer. Heat always moves from a hot object to a cooler object, so the cooling system transfers heat from the engine to the circulating coolant. Then the coolant transfers heat to the airflow through the radiator. Temperature control and heat transfer are based on the pressure of the system and coolant circulation(See Figure 5-1). 下一页返回 Pressures are highest at the water pump outlet and in the water jackets near the combustion chambers. System pressure is lowest at the water pump inlet. Pressure is generated by the water pump and controlled by variable restrictions, like the thermostat, the heater control valve and valves in the radiator cap.
