中文摘要 英语是一种语调语言。英语语调结构的基本单位是音调单元。在音调单元里， 调核是必不可少的成分。调核，是英语音调单元中，也是英语语调中最为活跃的 成分。由于音调单元中调型的变化会直接影响人们言语交际的结果，所以音调单 元的调核模式决定了该音调单元的语调模式，即“基调”。英国的语调研究经历 了几个世纪的发展，现已形成了一门独立学科，取得了丰硕的成果。该领域的语 音专家提出了较为系统的语调理论框架，并系统阐释了调核音调对言语交际过程 中情感表达、关键信息强调等方面的影响。目前，从语境角度研究调核音调的话 语功能，以此来探讨调核音调对言语交际过程及结果的影响，正成为一个新的趋 势。而国内，关于英语语调的著作数量有限，其中大多是对原版著作的介绍和整 理，有关调核音调的实证研究更是屈指可数。笔者拟通过分析调核音调对英语言 语交际的影响，并通过课堂教学实验，希冀为中国的语音教学提供素材，同时提 高英语学习者，特别是英语专业学生对语调的重视程度。 分析调核音调对英语言语交际的影响，主要基于三个基本层面，即情感、意 义强调和话语交际层面。笔者在回顾整理了前人研究成果的基础上，以英语专业 学生使用调核音调的实际情况为切入点，以此作为研究对象，分析学生在英语言 语交际中错误使用调核音调的原因。 本文以英语专业学生使用调核音调的实际情况为研究目标，通过设计相应试 题和问卷，获取研究数据，采用社会科学统计软件SPSS 13.0对数据进行分析。 最终的结果表明，中国的英语专业学生虽然系统学习了与英语语调相关的知识， 却仍然不能够很熟练地运用各种调核音调来表达某种交际意图。而造成这一现象 的原因主要有三个方面，首先是学生自身对英语语调的轻视，另一方面源于我国 专业教科书对调核音调模式的泛化处理，此外，语音教师在课堂教学中通常也忽 视了调核音调在言语交际中的重要意义。 关键词：调核，调核音调，英语言语交际，影响 II Abstract English is an intonation language by its nature. The basic constituent of the intonation system is the tone unit, with the nucleus as an indispensable and the most dynamic component. The tone pattern of the nucleus determines the intonational pattern of the tone unit, or the “tune” of an utterance. Variations of the nucleus tone would further influence the outcome of the oral communications to a large extent. The study of English intonation has become a formal discipline in Britain with fruitful achievements in its four centuries’ development. Phoneticians have provided a theoretical framework of the English intonation, and have conducted systematic explanations of the influence of the nucleus tone on English communications in terms of the attitudinal and accentual levels.
