Methods: The clinical and MRI mani- fest ations of 25 cases w ith empty sella were analysed and the pathogensis w as disc ssed. Res lts: MRI feat res of empt y sella were as follow s: ( 1) the inside of sella w as expressed with CSF signal; ( 2) t he sella expanded; ( 3) pit it ary gland w as pressed and flat , ; ( 4) closed to the bottom it show ed anchor shape on coronal scan arch line shape on sagital scan pit itary handle w as in center and extended; ( 5) hydrocephal s may be present. Concl sion: Empty sella has similar MRI manifestat ions. M RI co ld reveal t he correct diagnosis with its m lt i- oriented characteristics.
