The origin of the psychological contract can be traced back to Hawthornes 1920s experiment at. Prior to this, Taylors scientific management had taken shape. Scientific management is based on the hypothesis of economic man, linking peoples work and income. But later, many studies showed that there were no other factors besides economic income, which questioned the hypothesis of scientific management and influenced peoples work efficiency. So began in 1924 to 1927 (the Deng Zhenghong Bray column), the U.S. National Research Council in cooperation with the The Western Electric Company in a study to determine the lighting and other conditions impact on workers and productivity. They found that the lighting of the experimental team, both enhanced and reduced, improved productivity. While researchers were planning to declare the whole experiment a failure, Alden Mello of the Harvard University found something unusual. Myers and colleagues found that the change of experimental group improved illumination, rest time, shorten the working day and transform incentive wage system, explain why productivity change seems to be. Through research, they found that, in general, productivity improvements were due to social factors such as morale, sense of belonging, and effective management. This type of management requires the understanding of human behavior, especially collective behavior, and through such personal interactions, such as motivation, persuasion, leadership, and information exchange. The results of the Hawthorne experiment have led to a shift in attention to personal productivity and productivity from the external hardware environment to the inner world of the individual.
