Under the experimental conditions, the optimum conditions for preparing high specific surface area activated carbon are at a KOH/precur2 sor ratio of 1. 0, an activation temperature of 800e and a hold time of 2h. With these experimental conditions, an activated car2 2 3 bon with a BE surface area of 2996m / g and a total pore volume of 1.64cm / g was produced. he product is a novel material for adsorption and for the application in electric double2 layer capacitors.
