Ray In th is stu dy, fou r H siang-Yang m ica p owder s, a s 10 m 2 m received, ground in a beads mill and classified into 10 µm NaOH and 2 µm samples were tested in hydrothermal reactions. 240 NaOH Each of these samples was mixed and reacted with NaOH of three ranges of concentration at 240 ºC. For each NaOH concentration range, the four Hsiang-Yang mica powder s [NaOH] ≤ 1M had the same dominant zeolite or feldsparthoid miner al 1M [NaOH]5M products. For [NaOH] ≤ 1M, the product is analcime; for [NaOH] ≥5M 1M [N aOH ] 5M , hydr oxycancr in it e; and for [N aOH ] 10 m 70% ≥ 5M, hydroxysodalite. Hydroxycancr inite can be easily 30% synthesized from 10 µm sample, which is composed of 70% 2 m 75% pyrophyllite and 30% sericite. Hydroxysodalite can be easily 25% synthesized from 2 µm sample, which is composed of 70% NaOH pyrophyllite and 30% sericite. At low NaOH concentrations, pyrophyllite always disappeared at a faster rate than sericite indicating pyrophyllite is more reactive than sericite. At high NaOH NaOH concentrations, there is no significant difference in reaction rate becau se the dissolution behaviors of the two minerals become similar. 關鑑詞： Key words: sericite, pyrophyllite, hydrothermal reaction, zeolite, feldspa
