T he asco bic acid cont ents of Brassica chinensis L. g own in the solution in the p esence of diffe ent concent ations of cadmium, lead single and in combination w e e investigated. T he esults show ed that the asco bic acid contents dec eased with the inc ement of cadmium, lead concent ations in cul tu e so lution. T he influence of Cd on asco bic acid was g eate t han that of Pb . M eanwhile, the chlo ophyll cont ents dec eased with the inc ease of Cd and Pb concent ations. A significant linea co elation between the asco bic acid and chlo ophyll contents w as obse ved. T he decline of the asco bic acid contents in the plants of Brassica chinensis was p esented befo e the appea ence of out w a d ha m symptom in the blade.
