School of C ivil Engi neering, TongjiUniversity, Shanghai 200092, China) A bstract: Four thick cover concrete beams reinforcedwith 500MPa steel bars are tested under two point symmetrical concentrated static loading. And then on the basis of the calculationmodel on crack w idth adopted in the code GB50010 2002, revised formulas for crack spacing and crack w idth are proposed through the expermi ental results and existing test data of wt enty four thick cover concrete beams. Fur thermore, based on the test results of the concrete beamsw ith skin reinforcem ent, design recommenda tions are proposed for crack control of reinforced concrete beamswith thick concrete cover.
