During the two World War, he served in the U.S. Army and some local authorities. The return to Harvard University to teach psychology, first as a lecturer, was promoted to Professor in 1952. In 1962 he was appointed director of the research center of cognitive psychology, and has served as some Institute and research institutions positions. Because of his outstanding contributions in the areas of education and psychology in social activities and achievements, he has received the distinguished scientific contribution award (1962), the joint award of the American Educational Research Association and educational publishers (1969), Meryl Pyle beauty institutions commendation Award (1970).
