R TnPCR based on univer sal p rimer s for multiple H EV genotypes was u sed to detect H EV RNA in 40 samples collected from patient s wit h acute sporadic hep atitis E. PCR p roduct s were sequenced and analyzed wit h t he LA SER GEN E and P H YL IP softwares. Fourteen out of t he 40 samples were po sitive for R TnPCR. The po sitive rate was 35 %.
