Abstract: Objective To determinethe concentrationof TBT and TPT inseafood by liquidchromatography linked to in-
ductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ( LC- ICP- M ), and to investigate the levels of organotin pollution inseafood
around the coast of Guangdong Province. Methods The samples were collected widely and representatively from 17 com-
mercial seafood beds and some retailers around Guangdong Province. After the lyophilizationstep, the sampleswere treated
withacetonitrile/water/ acetic acid (65/ 23/ 12) containing 0. 05% trethylamine inan ultrasonic bathto extract TBT and TPT
from seafood samples. The extracts were centralized and filtered before analyzing by LC- ICP- M . Results The highest
concentration of TBTwas5 8. 7ng n/ gwet weight in112 samples, and the average concentrationwas8 .6 ng n/ gwet weight.
The highest concentrationof TPT was324 .1ng n/ gwet weight, and the average concentrationwas 44 .9 ng n/ g wet weight.
Conclusions The results indicate that the seafood from Guangdong is polluted by organotin ina certaindegree. The pollu-
