* * By selecting the paned window sliders and dragging the edges of the graphics window, the user can resize the graphics window. The user can also resize the entire single New GUI window by selecting the outer edges of the GUI. It may help to resize the GUI, so part of the output window can be made visible at all times. Once the New GUI has been resized, the user can select Utility Menu MenuCtrls Save Menu layout to save the New GUI configuration. The last Main Menu tree expansion is displayed upon opening, closing, and then reopening a Main Menu branch. For example, the Element Type sub branch is selected in the left most graphic. This same sub branch is displayed after the Preprocessor branch was collapsed and then expanded. This behavior allows the user to navigate between different branches of the Main Menu while maintaining one’s sub branch locations. Positioning the mouse cursor on the branch to be operated on, and then selecting the right mouse button displays a menu. The first option this menu offers is to “Expand all” of the sub branches in the selected branch. As shown, all of the sub branches of the Material Properties branch can be expanded by using the “Expand all” option. A second option in the menu is to “Collapse” all sub branches of the selected branch. A final option on this menu allows the user to display the Main Menu using “UIDL behavior”. With this option active, only one sub branch at a time can be expanded. As an example, consider the sub branches to create and then delete a volume shown. Each of these operations is located in a different sub branch of the Main Menu. With the “UIDL behavior” active, the user would not be able to simultaneously display the create volume and delete volume sub branches. Finally, the ANSYS 6.1 filtered branches of the Main Menu are not displayed. For example, defining a thermal element type will result in a number of non-thermal sub branch options being filtered.
