The First Aff iliated Hospital of Soochow University , Suz hou 215006, China Abstract: Obj ective:To investigate the correlation between the level of anxiety trait and the heart rate vari- ability(HRV) in anxiety disorder. Method:50 anxiety patients were enrolled in the study, using Hamilton depres- sive scale ( HAMA) and trait anxiety inventory (T-AI) to evaluate their psychology and 24 hour ambulatory electroca- diograph record to measure the index of HRV.Analysis were made between the 8 indexes of HRV, such as 24 hours standard deviation of NN interval ( SDNN) root mean standard deviation of successive (rMSSD) 5 minutes standard deviation of NN interval ( SDANN) percentage NN interval deviation greater than 50 ms (PNN50) low frequency power density ( LF) high frequency power density ( HF) very low frequency power density (VLF) LF/ HF, respec- tively, and the scores of TAI and HAMA . Results: The score of anxiety trait was significantly correlated with LF/ HF.Along with an increase in the scores of anxiety trait, there was no change in the index of HRV. Conclusion: The level of anxiety trait are correlated with the imbalance of autonomic nervous function in anxiety disorder.
