The biggest pitfall faced by experienced programmers is often the attempt to use C++ - to represent the benefits of other languages. For beginners or experienced programmers, the emphasis should be on concepts and techniques. Understanding the syntax and semantic details of C++ is secondary to understanding the design and programming techniques supported by C++. It is better to begin with a well chosen representational instance, and then go in a more general and more abstract direction.
