He attacked the laws stopping their rights and progress in a violent way, which made him be sentenced to prison on Robben Island, from which no one escaped. In 1990, he was released from prison. In reward for his great efforts, he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and became President of South Africa in 1994.
