Abstract: The experiments were cond cted at Inner Mongolia Grassland Ecosystem
Research Station of Chinese Academy of Sciences.The res lts showed that there w ere
significant effects for grazing intenties to plant composition, life type and pop lation
characteristics of range plants.Leym us chinensis and Stipa grandis steppes w ere
converged to Artemisia f rigida nder s stainable heavy grazing.The abovegro nd net
primary prod ctivity and plant diversity index were maxim m nder moderate grazing.
It means that there is compensation or overcompensation for plant prod ction.
