An Overview of Chongqing University Situated in Chongqing, a municipality of industrial importance in southwest China, Chongqing University (abbreviated as CQU) is a nationally famed comprehensive key university, directly under the administration of the State Ministry of Education. Currently, Chongqing University runs a graduate school and offers a wide range of undergraduate programs covering diverse branches of learning such as science, engineering, liberal arts, economics, management, law and education. Founded in 1929, Chongqing University had become a national comprehensive university consisting of six colleges in liberal arts, science, engineering, business, law and medical science early in 1940s, thus earned a prestige both domestic and abroad then for its outstanding performance in schooling.
