ENROUTE Enroute Procedures Enroute Activities Staying in communication with ATC Making necessary reports Responding to clearances Monitoring your position Keeping up with any changes to the airplane’s equipment status or weather. Enroute Radar Procedures When PIC / IFR / controlled airspace: required to continuously monitor an appropriate center or control frequency Transitioning to Enroute phase Handoff from departure to center If TEC, handoff from departure to approach Communication When told to switch frequencies, acknowledge by repeating Initial Callup facility identification aircraft identification altitude assigned altitude Communication Flow After your callup ATC verifies with Mode C Controller acknowledges and states “Radar Contact” If silence, return to previous frequency AIM recommends waiting for a minute If continued silence, try other ARTCC frequencies, then FSS, other aircraft.
