I. Analysis of teaching materials
The border town is the first reading text of second volumes of Chinese language in senior high school. This unit studies Chinese modern novels and foreign novels. The goal of unit teaching is to appreciate characters and language in novels. To appreciate the characters, we should analyze the richness and development of the characters, and pay attention to the relationship between the plot environment and characters. To appreciate the language of a novel, we should appreciate the connotation of language, learn the skills of the authors language and appreciate the different language styles of the author.
The border town, published in 1934, is the masterpiece of Shen Congwen. It shows readers the harmonious life form of Xiangxi world. The novel describes the mountain tea cave Wharf Group two sons total Tianbao and Nuo send, tortuous love between and ferry elderly granddaughter tracy. A natural love story ends in tragedy. The text is drawn from the thirteenth chapter to the fifteenth chapter of the border town. The focus of teaching is to appreciate the delicate psychology of characters, and to feel the unique folk customs and the beauty of human nature in Xiangxi. The difficult point of teaching is to analyze how the environment description reflects the psychology of the characters.
