China consumes 7 billion of these batteries each year...... At present, there are more than 1400 battery manufacturing enterprises in China, reaching 15 billion in 1999. About 366 million families in our country need about 4 billion 400 million batteries per year. And most of them are consumed domestically. Compared with many countries in the world, Chinas waste battery recovery rate is very low. It is understood that the production of batteries in China are 96% manganese zinc batteries and alkaline manganese batteries, the main components of manganese, mercury, zinc, chromium and other heavy metals. Whether the waste battery is buried in the atmosphere or buried in the ground, its heavy metal components will overflow with the leachate, resulting in pollution of groundwater and soil.
