Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, 100084 China) Abstract ：To handle the time exception in workflow, the requirements of time exception handling in workflow are analyzed, and the definitions of time exception handling and interrelated activities of time constraint in workflow are given. Also the categories of time exception handling in workflow and an algorithm of time exception spread are presented. Then a method of time exception handling in workflow is proposed, the method can find out the potential time exception arose from the activity delay exception and handle them before they take place. The method is implemented and validated through a real workflow management system.
