He was an important politician and wrote Utopia which described an ideal society. T: Good. Sir Thomas More was Henry VIII of England’s chancellor between 1529 and 1532. He was executed by Henry for his opposition to the break with the Roman Catholic Church. Utopia was written by Sir Thomas More in 1516. It reflects many contemporary attitudes (e.g. the subsidiary place of women)， but its emphasis on democracy and egalitarianism was quite revolutionary. Deal with Exercise 1. It will help students prepare for listening. T: Look at the picture of the ideal society of Utopia on Page 36.
